The Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index hit a new low in the fourth quarter of 2008, with many small-business owners saying they are generating less revenue, cutting capital spending, and eliminating jobs.

Nearly half of Americans (48%) use the Internet more than one hour per day, almost twice as many as in 2002. Post-graduate, higher-income, and younger Americans are the most frequent users, but the less affluent, non-working, and unmarried are among those posting big gains in the past year.

The percentage of Americans saying they ate dinner out at least once in the prior week has hardly changed in recent years, now 60% versus 64% in December 2005. Frequent dining out -- going three or more times a week -- has not dropped at all.

While 64% of Americans say they significantly changed their driving habits earlier this year as gas prices soared, only 12% now say they have reverted to their old habits as pump prices have plunged in recent months.
